Tear-Off
A proper asphalt shingle roof installation begins with a full tear-off of the existing roofing materials. All shingles and underlayment are removed down to the roof deck so the structure beneath can be inspected for any hidden issues that could affect the new roofing system.

Before tear-off begins, landscaping and plants around the home are protected, and any items near the house that could be damaged are moved out of the work area. A dumpster is delivered on-site for debris removal, allowing all roofing materials to be safely contained and disposed of while keeping the job site clean and organized.
Preperation
After the tear-off is complete, the roof decking is inspected for rot, soft spots, or damage, and any compromised areas are repaired or replaced to create a solid nailing surface for the new roofing system.

In accordance with Wisconsin building code, ice and water barrier is installed along the eaves to protect against ice dams and water intrusion. Code requires this protection to extend a minimum of 24 inches past the exterior wall line of heated living space, which typically results in two rows of ice and water shield being installed due to standard one-foot overhangs. Ice and water shield is also installed in valleys and around all roof penetrations, including vents, pipes, chimneys, and skylights.

The remaining areas of the roof deck are covered with synthetic underlayment, and drip edge is installed along all roof edges to properly manage water runoff and protect the roof structure.
Shingling
Once the roof is properly prepared, asphalt shingles are installed according to manufacturer specifications and Wisconsin building code. Installation begins at the lower portion of the roof and continues upward in a consistent pattern to ensure proper water shedding and uniform coverage.

Each shingle is properly fastened with correct nail placement, helping prevent lifting, blow-off, and premature wear. Careful attention to alignment and fastening ensures the roofing system performs as intended while providing a clean, finished appearance.
Detail Work
Detail work focuses on the most vulnerable areas of the roof where leaks are most likely to occur. This includes valleys, roof penetrations, chimneys, skylights, and wall transitions, all of which require precise flashing and sealing to properly direct water away from the home.

These areas are addressed carefully to ensure water is managed correctly under heavy rain, snow, and ice conditions. Flashing components are installed and integrated with the surrounding roofing materials so water sheds naturally off the roof rather than collecting or backing up. Special attention is given to transitions and penetrations, where improper detailing can lead to hidden leaks and long-term structural damage.

Clean-Up
Once the roofing installation is complete, the job site is thoroughly cleaned. All roofing debris and leftover materials are removed from the property, and the surrounding areas are cleared to ensure the space is safe and usable.

Magnetic sweeps are performed around the home to collect loose nails and fasteners, helping protect people, pets, and vehicles. The goal of the clean-up process is to leave the property in equal or better condition than when the project began, completing the installation with professionalism and care.
